| After some fiddling and DIY'ing, MR Bulk reveals his own little collection
of McLuxdom, thanks to a couple of kind Skunksters.
For relative sizes here is a line up of five LED lights; from left to right they are: McLux LongTail 3x123 w/E2C and 5W HD in SF TurboHead LGI Classic Mini LGI (w/blue pinhole beam defect) McLux w/BB750, NX-05 optic and Q3J Batwing Arc-SLS w/Kroll switch
Note that the LongTail Turbo is still slightly shorter than the 8-1/4" LGI; this is not a big light at all. A closer look at the little McFamily:
Seemingly wrought of some alien unobtanium, they are sleek, black, and DEADLY, as we shall soon see. And finally, comparative beamshots in the same order as the top pic:
Notice the clean, crisp hotspot of the Turbo McLux -- this is a canyon crossing thrower, the Real Thing. There is a huge clear corona that I would have had to back off about 20 more feet to capture on camera. You can see how the shorty McLux on a single 123 lithium outdoes even the LGI Classic (the nerve!!!). And the center beam clearly displays the blue pinhole (at about 1 o'clock) in the Mini LGI's beam. With just a *slightly* balky switch it is the only light here that is actually for sale -- and cheap! (e-mail for more info) Unfortunately what cannot be shown in these photos is the rock-solid build quality of the Skunk Lights, which is superb...simply superb. Thank you Don and Leo, you are truly buds. |
