The new Fraen Low Profile optic that is going into the Baby Pins on the current run continues to impress in other HD Luxeon lights. I swapped out the NX-05 in my Arc LSH-P and light meter readings jumped significantly. It appears to throw slightly farther now as well. Here it is with another lil'un, the SF E1e/KL1:
Obviously the Arc is on the right, as it is in the following beamshots
as well. The first is from two feet away on the inside of my laundry room
door...
...and then from 20 feet angled down below my sloped living room ceiling:
You can see that the Arc w/Fraen hangs on to its central hotspot better than the SF KL1, which has a Batwing LS w/ NX-05 optic. And contrary to initial reports, the Arc still retains usable sidespill light. From a meter away the SF KL1 made this many lux:
The "old" Arc LSH-P w/NX-05 made 349 lux from the same distance. But with the Fraen Low Profile optic it now makes this:
An increase of 90 lux just by replacing the NX-05 with the Fraen. Hey Peter Gransee, you listening? Hmmm, this new Fraen is cool. Lemme see what else I can swap... |
