5W Lambertian Pelican M6 Mod...

...by my good ol' buddy McGizmo. He was wondering how the Pelican M6's rather deep and dimpled reflector would take to a 5-watt HD mod so we made arrangements:

You might be wondering what that black girdle thingy is, and it's a Delrin collar machined to fit snugly between the body and tailcap (where there's a circumferential recess to hold it motionless). On it is attached the male end of a cellular phone beltclip mount. The clip clamps over one's belt and the light can now be popped in, to swing freely in head-down position, easily released by pressing in a button on the clip while simultanesouly pulling the light up and out. Better yet for those moments requiring a brief blast of light, one can simply swing the light up into horizontal position while still attached, press quickly on the tailcap to emit the needed photonic burst, and simply released to swing back down into the hang-carry position. Don also made one for my McLux:

Using a 5W white HD and dat2zip's BB750, Don fabricated a screw-in Pill that emulates the Pelican's stock piece exactly, in order to perfectly replace the original assembly (even check the grippy knurling!):

This next shot displays the perfectly centered Luxeon, you can see the emitter's yellow phosphor glinting out from the stock Pelican's mottled reflector:

So as usual I put it up against some well-known competition, from left to right they are:

1) Don's own infamous 5W emitter in SF E2 w/E2C adapter, BB750, SF Turbohead, and -- CLICKIE switch(!) which he recently sold me

2) Lambda Adrenalin Pro

3) Arc LSH-P w/2AA TSP

4) SF E2 w/KL1

A beamshot with lights on the floor (hey, I only have two hands) in the same order:

Notice that the Turbohead 5W casts a much more tightly focused spot, while the Pel/M6 5W produces a medium-tight, very useful flood pattern that was still able to easily cast its beam out onto trees 75 yards away and beyond.

And brightness? How about 1,441 lux?

Please do not e-mail me, this PM6/5W gem is not for sale. Instead, contact McGizmo! (Heh heh, sorry Don ol' bud, but you asked for it with such a quality mod...)
